It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Fairview Elementary School. As I walk through the halls, I’m flooded with memories of my days as a student at Fairview School. Lunchtime memories that include Ms. Faye, our lunch monitor (who is still at Fairview School) and watching Happy Days on the TV in the auditorium at lunch time during inclement weather. I can see all the homemade cakes and cupcakes made by our parents for the bake sales in the hallway near the auditorium on Election day. I see myself in my 5th grade classroom saluting the flag and singing the National Anthem each morning before the day began. I can still remember some of the words to the song we wrote for our 6th grade graduation. Wonderful memories that I will cherish forever. I am thankful to have the opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to me.
My passion for education has been shaped over the last 19 years as an educator, teacher coach, Vice Principal and Principal. Each role had a distinct influence on the leader I am today. My number one priority is, and always has been, the children. My vision for Fairview School is to continue to foster a culture of academic excellence and career readiness, where everyone is a learner, everyone is a teacher, and everyone is a leader. I believe it is vital that we encourage respect for the individuality of each child. Every child has gifts and talents that must be explored and nurtured so that each child feels like a valued member of our school community.
It is through collaboration and commitment that much can be accomplished. I look forward to working with all stakeholders this year, and in years to come, to make Fairview School the best it can be and to ignite dreams for future leaders.
